What better way to begin the day to day posting on this photo blog than to show what is seemingly the tallest and largest building on campus. It’s also one of the most important buildings on campus. Why? Because this is the building where most students spend a significant amount of time researching, reading, studying, writing up essays, photocopying numerous pages form books, printing essays at the last minute, fighting over certain books, and wasting time on Facebook or watching movies.
The Glasgow University Library is one of the oldest and largest libraries in Europe. Built in 1968, the Library contains over 2.5 million books and journals. Even with that, students will always complain that there aren’t enough copies or that they can’t find the right source. Such is life.
There’ll be much more about the library in the future, including a whole week devoted to it later on in the month.
The library website can be found at www.lib.gla.ac.uk.
The library also has a Flickr account and a brand new blog.
