QMU Election
Several times a year the campus really lights up in colour and activity as students take part in student politics on campus. The elections aren’t held just to elect people to positions where they can represent the needs of minorities, disabled students, various faculties and the like at the Students’ Representative Council (SRC).
Both of the main student unions, the Glasgow University Union (GUU) and the Queen Margaret Union (QMU) also elect board members and officers to see the operation and profitability of the student unions for the next year, along with bringing in fresh ideas to benefit the students for the coming year.
This shot is from outside the QMU from early March 2008 when the union held its one-day election. As the results came in later on in the day, Aaron Murray (top left corner of the photo) was elected President of the QMU for the 2009/2010 academic year.
