Photo of the Former Recreation Ground
Until 1906 there was a large recreation ground on the Gilmorehill campus, where the Joseph Black Building was subsequently built. Just to the south of the recreation ground were tennis courts, which were replaced with the West Medical Building and subsequently the Wolfson Building and Davidson Building. Nowadays you’ll find the University’s recreation grounds up at Garscube, 45 minutes to the north-east of Gilmorehill.
I found the above framed photograph in the Glasgow University Union‘s Reading Room.
